Dimitry Afanasiev, Chairman of EPAM, spoke at RUSS!A Investment Roadshow 2009, a leading high-profile platform outside Russia for interaction between Russian businessmen and foreign investors and partners.
On 9–10 April 2009 the Fifth Annual Conference Legal Business in Russia sponsored by EPAM Law took place in Moscow. The two days conference was attended by EPA&P partners Dimitry Afanasiev, Grigory Chernyshov and Dmitry Stepanov.
On the day of remembrance for Anatoly Sobchak the selected winners of the Anatoly Sobchak Grant received their awards at the Law School of the Saint Petersburg State University. Invited by the Anatoly Sobchak Endowment led by Senator L.B.Narusova, Dimitry Afanasiev made a speech to the award winners and other students, in which he announced that Law Offices EPAM were joining the program for encouraging the best law students of Russian schools of higher education by doubling there government grants at the expense of EPAM.
Dmitry Stepanov has joined EPAM. The new partner is a highly regarded expert in corporate and securities regulations. Dmitry has also been actively involved in legislation drafting.

On 5 December 2008 the Russian National Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce – the world business organization (ICC Russia) held the conference “ICC International Arbitration Court: Opportunities for Russia” on the occasion of the visit of the delegation of the International Arbitration Court to Moscow. The conference was attended by Ilya Nikiforov, the Managing Partner of the Saint Petersburg office of EPAM.
On 13 - 14 November 2008 the methodological conference on “Studying Alternative Dispute Resolution as Part of Higher Education and Supplementary Training” sponsored by EPAM, was held at the Law School of the Saint Petersburg State University.
EPAM has successfully completed its accreditation at Vneshekonombank and is now the designated independent legal expert.
From 30 October to 1 November a research-to-practice conference “Civil and Tax Law: Conflicting Interpretations of Law” was held in the Law School of the Saint Petersburg State University. Ilya Nikiforov, the Managing Partner leading the Saint Petersburg office of EPAM, participated in the conference.
The round table discussion focused on existing legal frameworks for relations between shareholders, analysis of the recent judicial practice in Russia, as well as regulatory perspectives on shareholder agreements in Russia.
15 October 2008 - The International Court of Justice (ICJ), the principal judicial organ of the United Nations, today issued an Order for provisional measures in a case filed by Georgia for the application of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination. EPAM, together with a group of prominent European lawyers, advised the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia in these proceedings.
On 13 - 15 October 2008, the workshop on “Due Diligence in Russia: Current Issues of Practice” was held in Moscow. Nikolay Averchenko, a senior lawyer of EPAM, made a presentation on the topic of “Current Issues of Practice and Procedure of Legal Due Diligence”.
On 6 October 2008 the research-to-practice conference “Commercial Dispute Resolution. Mediation and Arbitration Courts” was held in Moscow. The conference was sponsored by EPAM and attended by more than 50 experts in commercial dispute resolution. Grigory Chernyshov, a Partner leading the Litigation Practice Department at EPAM, took part in the event.

On 30 September 2008 the VII Annual M&A Forum took place in Moscow. The event, attended by more than 130 delegates. was sponsored by EPAM. Attorneys Grigory Chernyshov and Mikhail Kazantsev from EPAM participated in the Forum.
