In March 2020, the Finnish energy company Fortum finalized the purchase of a majority stake in the German company Uniper - representing a landmark deal for the energy industry. EPAM represented Fortum before the Governmental Commission for Foreign Investments and the FAS Russia.
The General Assembly of Association of Antitrust Experts (AAE) members was held on July 30, 2020. EPAM Counsels Denis Gavrilov and Maria Kobanenko were elected to the AAE General Council by a majority vote. Andrey Rego, Head of Regulatory Department at Mobile TeleSystems PJSC, was elected the Chairman of the AAE General Council. This is Maria’s debut appointment to the AAE General Council and the fourth one for Denis.

On July 15, 2020, the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans’ Affairs made a decision to establish a working group to prepare a draft law on remote work* which Anna Ivanova – Head of Employment Practice at EPAM – will join.
On 30 June 2020, the unique refinancing of a public-private partnership project through placing of secured social bonds worth over RUB 5.6 bn was successfully closed. As part of the project, VIS Group built 12 social infrastructure facilities in Yakutsk. EPAM’ team contributed to the project.

On 9 June 2020, leading global aluminum producer RUSAL successfully placed its bonds on the Moscow Exchange. EPAM (EPAM) provided legal advice to OJSC RUSAL Bratsk which acted as the issuer.
On June 9, 2020, by unanimous decision of the General Arbitrators Meeting, Valery Eremenko, Partner heading Litigation Practice at EPAM, was elected to the Presidium as a Deputy Chairman of the Arbitration Center Presidium.

In September 2019, popular carpooling service BlaBlaCar announced its intention to purchase Russia’s largest online bus ticket aggregator Busfor. The Firm’s Competition Practice team managed to obtain clearance for this landmark deal from the FAS Russia by proving that it would not limit competition on the market for online bus ticket sales.
