EPAM keeps its top position among Russian law firms by the overall number of recommendations according to Best Lawyers 2018. Moreover, the Firm has increased the number of recommended lawyers and practice areas as compared to the last year’s ratings.
According to Best Lawyers 2018, EPAM is the leader among the Russian firms by the number of lawyers recommended for various practice areas. This year, Best Lawyers recommends 43 lawyers of the Firm, both in Moscow and St Petersburg, and six of them have had their first recommendations. All in all, the Firm’s lawyers have won 108 recommendations for various practice areas. In addition, three lawyers of the Firm have been named Lawyer of the Year, these are Managing Partner Ilya Nikiforov (St. Petersburg) and Counsel Pavel Sadovsky (Moscow) for Information Technology Law, and Partner Victoria Burkovskaya (Moscow) for Criminal Defence. EPAM has also been awarded the Firm of the Year in this practice area.
Ilya Nikiforov has been recommended in more practice areas than any other lawyer: 13 times for various areas of his expertise. The member of the Partners' Committee Dimitry Afanasiev gained personal recommendations in 6 categories, including litigation, antitrust and corporate law, international arbitration, investment, mergers and acquisitions.
In Antitrust Law, Best Lawyers recommends 10 of the Firm’s lawyers: Head of Practice Natalia Korosteleva, Partners Dmitry Dyakin and Anna Numerova, Counsels Evgeny Bolshakov, Denis Gavrilov, Maria Kobanenko and Elena Agaeva, as well as Senior Associate Alexey Rodionov and Associate Grigory Shafeev.
The Firm’s lawyers gained 26 recommendations for International Arbitration, Arbitration and Mediation, and Litigation, which confirms its leadership in dispute resolution. The directory ranks Partners Evgeny Raschevsky, Dmitry Dyakin and Dmitry Stepanov. Counsel Ilya Tur has been recommended for International Arbitration and Litigation. Managing Partner Ilya Nikiforov has been recommended for all types of disputes. The directory also recommends Partners Robin Wittering (for International Arbitration), Denis Arkhipov, Valery Eremenko and St Petersburg office Managing Partner Ivan Smirnov (for Litigation). Counsels Pavel Sadovsky, Igor Serebryakov and Vladimir Pestrikov and Senior Associates Alexey Rodionov, Alexey Rizhkin, and Oleg Bouiko have also been highly recommended for Litigation.

In Banking & Finance and Capital Markets, the directory gives a top ranking for Partner Dmitriy Glazounov, who is also recommended for M&A, Counsel Roman Malovitsky, Head of Tax Practice Sergey Kalinin, and Senior Associate Oleg Ushakov.
