Evgeny Raschevsky holds a seminar on International Commercial Arbitration
On November 21, 2013 Evgeny Raschevsky, Partner, Head of International Arbitration and Litigation Practice at EPAM, gave a seminar on International Commercial Arbitration. The venue for the seminar was the corporate university of a Russian oil and gas company.
Evgeny’s report covered the following main points:
- Modern system of dispute resolution through international arbitration: the general provisions and structure.
- Main arbitration institutions and regulations usually referred to in Eurasia. Main arbitration institutes and regulations usually opted for by parties in Eurasia. Main features and differences between the continental and the Anglo-Saxon approaches to supporting of arbitration proceedings.
- Main stages of arbitration proceedings: drafting and filing of a claim and defenses, contracting an adviser, collecting and disclosing of evidence, procedural tactics, cross examination of witnesses and expert reports.
- Action in support of arbitration taken by the state courts.
- General overview of the modern investment arbitration.
The seminar provided a platform for lively discussion of business issues by the attendees. The audience was represented by the company’s external relations department staff.
