EPAM invites to seminar on Limitation of Liability for Maritime Claims

EPAM in association with Russian Maritime News, published by the Union of Russian Shipowners (SOROSS), and Marine Insurance magazine invites you to a seminar on Limitation of  Liability for Maritime Claims. The event will be held on February 26, 2013 in St. Petersburg. 

Topics to be covered**:

• International systems of limitation of liability for maritime claims and their application under Russian law
• The terms of a ‘ global’ limitation of liability regime as set out by the Convention on Limitation of Liability for Maritime Claims 1976
• Procedures applicable when limiting liability
• The particulars of limiting the insurer’s liability towards the shipowner in maritime claims
• Global and particular limitation of liability regimes: their correlation and application
• From the files of EPAM: the creation, in the St. Petersburg and Leningrad District Commercial Court, of a limitation fund for motor vessel owners and its allocation

Speakers will include**:

• Valery Musin, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Laws, Professor and Head of the Department of Civil Procedure at St. Petersburg State University, School of Law, and Senior Partner at the Russian-British law firm Musin, Ibragimov & Partners
• Irina Veshnyakova, Associate, Senior Expert in Maritime Shipping and Transport Law at EPAM
• Alexey Karchemov, Associate and Senior Expert in International Maritime Law at EPAM, and regional expert on maritime safety for the International Maritime Organization

The event will be conducted in Russian.
