EPAM at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2018
Member of the Partners' Committee of EPAM Dimitry Afanasiev, Managing Partner Ilya Nikiforov, Partners Victoria Burkovskaya, Dmitry Dyakin and James Warlick, and Counsel Roman Zhavner will all take part in this year’s St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
On 24–26 May 2018, the 22nd St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) will be held in St. Petersburg. SPIEF is a leading global platform where the business community meets to discuss the key economic issues facing Russia, emerging markets, and the world as a whole. It has been bringing together heads of state and government from emerging economies, heads of major corporations, and the world’s leading experts in the fields of science, the media, and civil society for more than 20 years. This year, the business programme will feature contributions from a number of the Firm’s representatives.
Member of the Partner's Committee Dimitry Afanasiev will address the session ‘Competitiveness of Russian Jurisdiction: Rebooting the Legal Environment for Business as a Pathway towards a Trust Economy’. The session will cover the prospects for developing legislation for digital markets, best international practices that could help to advance Russia’s jurisdiction, ways to preserve entrepreneurial freedom, and opportunities for improving Russia’s legal system to foster a trust economy. Also taking part in the discussion will be Vladimir Gruzdev, Chairman of the Board of the Association of Lawyers of Russia; Boris Titov, Presidential Commissioner of the Russian Federation for the Protection of Entrepreneurs’ Rights; Andrey Tsarikovskiy, State Secretary and Deputy Head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service of the Russian Federation; and Yury Chayka, Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation. Partner Victoria Burkovskaya, who heads the Firm’s White Collar Crime Practice and co-chairs the Business Against Corruption Centre for Public Procedures, will contribute to the session as an expert. Dmitry Afanasiev will also speak at the session ‘Transformations of the Competitive Landscape: Antimonopoly Regulation in a Digital Economy’. The discussion will look at ways to assess the market situation, analyse which approaches and mechanisms can be used in a dynamic environment, and consider how competition itself is being transformed. It will be held on 24 May, the first day of the Forum, from 16:45 to 18:00 in conference hall B2 (Congress Centre). More information about the session.
James Warlick, an internationally renowned expert on international relations and global politics, will take part in the Russia–USA business dialogue, which will focus on the most effective strategies and prospects for bilateral economic ties. The discussion will be held on 25 May from 10:15 to 11:30 in conference hall G1 (Pavilion G). More information about the event.
