Maxim Tabolo is a Senior Associate in the Intellectual Property / TMT practice.

Maxim provides legal support on various aspects of intellectual property law and is experienced in prosecution and enforcement matters.

Maxim represents Russian and foreign clients in IP disputes before state commercial courts, including the Court for Intellectual Property Rights, courts of general jurisdiction, as well as in negotiations.

As a registered Russian patent and trademark attorney, Maxim represents clients before the Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent), the Chamber of Patent Disputes and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). In addition, being a registered Eurasian patent attorney, Maxim has a right to practice before the Eurasian Patent Organization (EAPO). Maxim's experience includes managing large IP portfolios of well-known companies and coordination of complex projects on acquisition of exclusive rights in various jurisdictions.

In addition, Maxim is involved in transactional matters, assisting with legal due diligence investigations and supporting transactions related to assignment and licensing of IP.

Maxim's projects include:

• Representing NTG Nordic Transport Group A/S in a precedent-setting dispute on granting legal protection to the client's trademark, which resulted in a new approach to legal protection of abbreviations as part of trademarks in Russia.
• Representing a well-known foreign manufacturer of sports equipment in an invalidation action against a trademark registered by its distributor.
• Advising a leading international tobacco company on the risks of infringement of IP rights of third parties in connection with introduction of a new product to the Russian market.
• Advising one of the largest domestic retail banks on all IP law issues, including support of its IP portfolio in Russia.
• Representing a well-known manufacturer of cookware and household appliances in a series of disputes over termination of trademark protection due to non-use.
• Representing a leading foreign apparel manufacturer in a dispute with a competitor, which resulted in refusal of registration of a family of trademarks imitating the marks used by the client in Russia.
• Representing a major domestic Internet provider in negotiations with a world-known manufacturer of high-tech equipment regarding legal protection of trademarks in Russia.
• Managing an IP portfolio of a large pharmaceutical company.

Maxim graduated with honours from Lomonosov Moscow State University and holds a Master’s degree in Private Law.
