Ilya Nikiforov to Speak at International Construction Contracts & Dispute Resolution Conference

On 29–30 March, the International Construction Contracts & Dispute Resolution conference will take place in Istanbul, jointly organized by the ICC International Court of Arbitration and FIDIC. Ilya Nikiforov, Managing Partner of EPAM, will present a report at the conference.

The event will be attended by in-house lawyers from major construction companies, construction contract specialists, and arbitrators and consultants in the field of dispute resolution. The agenda will include the following topics:

• Typical FIDIC construction contract formats;
• Potential problems with using FIDIC contracts in Turkey and the Middle East;
• Distinctive features of nuclear energy construction projects;
• Rules for submitting claims and resolving disputes in FIDIC contracts;
• Questions of jurisdiction in the arbitration of construction contract disputes;

Ilya Nikiforov will present a report entitled “Reparation for Damages Sustained as a Result of International Sanctions”. He will talk on the nature of sanctions recently introduced in Russia against Turkish construction companies, ways to protect the interests of international subcontractors, compensation for the losses incurred by such subcontractors via investment arbitration and, in particular, the possibility of applying to the Agreement between Russia and Turkey regarding the Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of Investments.
